--- Where do I find an
application? Click the link above labeled Applications.
---I need to arrive a day early. Is that OK? Yes. Please
send us an email informing us of the early arrival and when to
expect you. There is a $30 charge for the extra dorm night.
----When is the deadline for submitting an
admissions application? June 15th for all 2 week programs. June 1st for all
other programs.
---When is the deadline for submitting a
scholarship deadline? May 25th.
--- When and Where do I check in? You
can begin
checking into the dorm (Welch Hall) anytime after 8am on the day
your proram is scheduled to begin. Registration will be from 3pm to 5pm in
Welch Hall. Your orientation
meeting will be at 6pm followed by your first lab meeting. If
you will be arriving late please send us an email with your
approximate arrival time.
Please make every attempt to
plan your travel so you can attend the 6pm meeting.
---Which airport should I fly into? Fly to the
Spokane International
Airport.
---How do I get to campus? The GDI
does not offer shuttle service from the airport. However, there
are number of inexpensive options for travelling to campus.

information on
shuttle and
cab options.
---How do I get to the airport on July
23rd when I go home? The GDI will arrange a charter bus service
to shuttle students to the airport on July 23rd. You will
have the opportunity to sign up for that bus at registration.
The cost is $5 and can be paid at registration.
---What
should I expect with the meal plan? Most meals are served in the
GU dining facilities operated in The COG. These meals are "all
you can eat". Meal times will be explained at orientation.
Your meal plan begins with dinner on the night you arrive and
ends with dinner on Friday, July 22nd.
---In addition to
all the debate work, are there any non debate activities during
the GDI? Yes. We have trips planned to Silver Amusement Park and
Laser Quest for students in the 4 and 5 week programs. We also
have trips for all the labs to Bumpers, movie nights, BBQs, and
of course, the highlight of the GDI is always the Kickball
Tournament the weekend before the tournament.
---Can I
request a specific partner and/or roommate? Yes. There is a
space on the application for you to make those requests?
----Can I request a specific lab leader? Sort of. If the lab
leader you requested is working in the program you selected we
will make every attempt to honor your request. The earlier you
get a request in the more likely it is that we can honor it.
---If i need to arrive later than the scheduled arrival
date/time is that o.k.? Yes, but make sure you email us and let
us know when to expect you.
---If I want to room someone
from another program is that allowed? Only if those programs are
the same length of time (i.e. 5, 4, 3, or 2 weeks).
---When is final payment due? All final payments are due on June
15th. Please note: WE CANNOT CHECK REGISTER YOU OR CHECK YOU
INTO THE DORMS IF YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOT PAID IN FULL.
---If have never debated in the varsity/open
division at a tournament do I have a chance at getting in the
Scholars Program? No.
